An appropriate gift will be sent to an SPA member, their spouse, parents or children when hospitalized due to illness, maternity or death.

Scholarships are available to children of SPA members. The SPA will pay $3500 maximum per semester (which includes books/tuition) for (8) eight students per year. The application and instructions can be obtained from the WEBSITE. (***Must be submitted before 5 pm on March 25th, 2023***)


In June, the SPA sponsors a summer event for SPA members. This includes the SPA member, their spouse, dependent children under 18 or (1) guest.


In sept/oct, the SPA sponsors a picnic for SPA members and their family. The SPA sponsors a picnic for members, a spouse and their immediate dependent children under the age of 18 or one guest. Free food, drinks, games and prizes.


Our best party of the year! ( MUST BE 18 YEARS OLD OR OLDER TO ATTEND ) This event has become a formal affair for the SPA members and (1) guest. Free food, door prizes, music and a lot of fun! (Must pay dues for full year to be eligible) New Hires pending probation and approval from supervisor.


The SPA will fund events for SPA members or their children's sporting activities - up to $100 per member or $200 per team.


Short term, interest-free loans are available to members in cases of EXTREME emergencies. "Emergency" is defined as:
a) Death or illness in the family
b) A situation in which a loan would assist the member in getting to work and being productive at work Call Sandie Durgin @ 702-303-2594


Upon the death of an SPA member, the SPA will pay the beneficiary $2,500 - $5,000 for accidental death.

Retired Lifetime Member

We offer a Lifetime membership with no dues! To qualify you must have been a SPA member for 10 consecutive years at the time of your separation from the department. Lifetime qualified members will also receive an appropriate gift and $15 for every year served as a SPA member at the time of your retirement/resignation from the department.

It is strongly recommended that you annually check all your beneficiary designations to ensure that you have one listed and they are up to date.  I have provided a summary of accounts that you should review.

Log on to your account with PERS and make sure you have spouse (if applicable) and a Survivor Beneficiary listed.  If not fill out the attached form and email to [email protected]

LVMPD Life Insurance –TheStandard  Log on to (LVMPD computer only)– Every full-time employee has department purchased life insurance in the amounts of $25,000 Basic Life, $25,000 AD&D, and $25,000 Line of Duty.  You also could have supplemental policies.

LVMPD Deferred Compensation Account (457) – Fidelity – Log on to to view/update your beneficiaries.  If you need assistance with logging into your account contact Fidelity Customer Service at 800-343-0860.

Association Life Insurance – If you are member of PMSA (702-384-2924), PPA (702-702-384-8692), or PPACE (702-702-382-9121) you will want to contact them to ensure your beneficiaries are up to date.
